ostatni odcinek naszego 53km treku. co prawda poprzedniego dnia nie dotarlysmy az do samego botnar (zostaly nam jakies 2-3 km).
po nocy pelnej wrazen (odlatujacy namiot !!) kiedy rano obudzilysmy sie I niesmialo wyjrzalysmy z namiotu, bylo niezle. lekko mzylo, ale widocznosc byla ok I chmury trzymaly sie generalnie powyzej otaczajacych nas szczytow. ruszamy wiec na ostatni dlugi spacer, przed nami okolo 17-18km do thorsmork..

last stage of our 53km trek. we didn't actually reach botnar exactly, but we were only about 2-3km short.
after an adventurous night (gale force winds and runaway tent) we were not sure what to expect when we wake up. to our relief, weather was not bad - drizzly but visibility was ok and cloud bases were generally above summits.
we packed and left. in another 2-3 km we would reach botnar (emstrur), and 15 km further -thorsmork..

tak, noc byal pelna przygod.. / yep, night was very adventurous
ale przezylysmy! :) / but we survived!! :)
zanim dobrze sie rozgrzalysmy juz czekala nas kolejna rzeczka... / before we even warmed up, another river was to be crossed
a potem znow dosc dlugi spacer przez popioly / and then, again, a long walk on ashes
powoli zaczynamy zblizac sie do emstrur. w oddali widac juz kanion markarfjot.
slowly we're reaching emstrur, markarfljot canyon in view already!
obie bardzo chcialysmy ten kanion zobaczyc, ale jest on oddalony od glownej sciezki o okolo 20min. zostawilysmy wiec plecaki na 'skrzyzowaniu' I poszlysmy, lekko, zobaczyc ten majestatyczny kanion
we really wanted to see this famous canyon, but it is situated about 20mins away from main path. so we left rucksacks at 'crossroads' and lightly explored the area
moze tego nie widac, ale sciany kanionu sa wysokie na kilkaset metrow

wreszcie emstrur!
miejsce sklada sie z kilku domkow: schronisko, domek straznika, osobny domek na toalety I prysznice. kamping znajduje sie w malej zielonej dolince.
tutaj spotkalysmy znow 'ekipe czeska', chlopaki tez nie zostali na noc w alftavatn, ale im z kolei udalo sie dojsc poprzedniego dnia as do samego emstrur, kiedy my tam dotarlysmy oni akurat ruszali dalej. co smieszne, kiedy zaczelismy rozmawiac powiedzieli ze widzieli ze ktos sie rozbil zielonym namiotem przy kamieniu hahaha I nawet nakrecili nam film :)
at last, emstrur!
place consists of few houses: hut, warden's house, separate house for toilets and showers. campsite is situated in a tiny green gully.
here we met 'Czech team' again, guys didn't stay at alftavatn neither, but they actually managed to reach emstrur previous night. when we came along, they were just leaving for thorsmork. we talked a little and they said they have actually seen somebody staying over in a green tent behind the large stone, they even had a video of us!
niestety wiekszosc drogi z emstrur do thorsmork padalo. przyznam tez ze ten odcinek byl dla mnie najnudniejszy I najmniej 'egzotyczny'
unfortunately most of the way from emstrur to thorsmork is rained, and I must admit this was the stage of trek which I enjoyed the least. maybe it just wasn't 'exotic' enough..
w dobra pogode z emstrur widzialybysmy pieknie lodowiec entujokull, nam nie udalo sie go zobaczyc wcale.. co wiecej, zaraz po opuszczeniu emstrur czekala nas kolejna przeprawa przez rzeczke
in a good weather we would be able to see entujokull glacier (from emstrur) but we we're not lucky enough :( what is more, just after leaving emstrur we had to cross another river!
sciezka przez kawalek prowadzi zielona rownina, ale szybko docieramy do miejsca miedzy dwiema czarnymi gorami, gdzie trzeba zejsc/zjechac ostro na dol po zwirku. jest tam kilka sciezek. my wybralysmy ta niewlasciwa -poszlysmy do zlebu na lewo I schodzilysmy/zjezdzalysmy wzdluz strumienia. bardzo nieprzyjemne I kilka razy wyladowalysmy na 'czterech' . jest tez inna sciezka ktora prowadzi na prawo, jakby pod goreczke a potem po drugiej stronie schodzi mniej ostro, bardziej zygzakiem, to bylaby mniej kamikadze opcja
po zejsciu/zjechaniu na dol trafiamy na chwilke do zielonej dolinki przecietej malym kanionem I rzeczka. w schronisku ostrzegali ze mostek nad ta rzeczka budzi groze, ale w sumie nie mieli racji. do mostku trzeba tez zeskrabac sie na dol, ale tu mamy juz ulatwienia w postaci lin I lancuchow
path takes us along green valley but soon enough we have another obstacle. between 2 black mountains we have a narrow pass and then we needed to get down (walk/slide) down on ashes to another glen, one level below. there were 2 options to chose, we chosen the wrong one - took path on the left and walked /slid down in narrow gully, along a stream. this was unpleasant and sometimes dangerous. the other path, on the right would have been much better -it goes a little bit up, around small hill and goes down on the other side, across the slope. much better.
when we finally reached lover level valley we noticed a small canyon. yep, we had to cross it :) there was a bridge, yay, but reaching it wasn't so easy either, this time there were ropes and chains provided. handy! we were warned in emstrur that crossing this bridge
isn't for faint hearted, but I think they exaggerated a little, it was ok :)

potem znow pod gore I po kilku kilometrach doszlysmy do niesamowitej rozpadliny, laczacej sie z dolina rzeczna
then again, up the hill, and few kilometres later we reached a magnificent fissure joining a wider river valley..
czas na maly odpoczynek :) od tamtego miejsca zaczelo sie cos niesamowitego - piasek nagle stal sie bialutki, roslinosc wydmowa, skalki tu I owdzie.. mialam wrazenie ze zaraz za rogiem bedzie plaza!
have some rest, ela! :) from that point landscape changed again - this time we had a fine white sand, dune type flora/grasses and rocks, I almost expected to see a beach around the corner!
juz prawie w thorsmork. kolejna przeprawa przez rzeke I dalej zielona dolina a potem zielonym lasem az do konca.
almost in thorsmork! another river crossing then walk in green valley, then a forrest (!) and we're there!
wydostanie sie z thorsmork jest nielatwe, aby stad dojechad do jedynki trzeba przejechac dobrych kilka rzek (naliczylysmy chyba 9..) niewiele samochodow jest w stanie je pokonac. nawet autobusy sa specjalnie zabezpieczane, ponadto sa inne, wyzsze nic reszta busow. co wiecej, przejazd jest na tyle ryzykowny ze autobus nigdy nie przejezdza 'sam', po drugiej stronie czeka na niego dlugi autobus lub specjalny traktor, w razie jakby autobus utknal, by moc go wyciagnac.
getting out of thorsmork isn't that easy. between thorsmork and road no 1 are numerous rivers (I think we counted 9..) and this is possible to special buses and only some cars. crossing those rivers is risky even for special/high suspension buses (with engines watertight) therefore never a bus crosses on it s own. there always is another bus waiting on the other side or a special tractor, just in case the bus is stuck in water, to pull it out.

w thorsmork znajduja sie dwa punkty noclegowe: langidalur (na poludniu) - dla tych ktorzy chca kontynuowac dodatkowe 25 km do skogar oraz husadalur (na zachodzie)- z knajpa, kampingiem (goracy prysznic!!!!). z obu punktow jezdza autobusy.
well deserved dinner and BEER!!!! in the bar we were welcomed by Czech team :) Viking beer 100isk, yummy!
there are two places to go in thorsmork: langidalur (to the south) - go there if you want to continue another 25km to skogar; husadalur (to the west) - with bar, campsite (hot shower!!!). buses go from both places.
to juz wszystko o treku laugavegur. mam nadzieje ze czytalo sie fajnie I ze udalo mi sie zachecic choc kilka osob do odbycia tej przygody. wszystkiego dobrego I powodzenia!
