HRAFNTINNUSKER - ALFTAVATN - day 2 laugavegur trek

dzien drugi naszego treku przez islandzkie gory - trasy laugavegur.

tego dnia planowalysmy dojsc tylko do alftavatn, ale przez to ze ruszylysmy z hrafntinusker dosc wczesnie rano, odcinek liczyl tylko 12km I bylysmy dobrze wypoczete, do alftavatn doszlysmy bardzo wczesnym popoludniem. pogoda byla niezgorsza, sil nadal sporo wiec nie chcialysmy 'marnowac' popoludnia na siedzenie w schronisku. tak wiec w sumie bez zatrzymanki ruszylysmy dalej...

 

smiesznie - 'czeska ekipa' ruszyla okolo 15min po nas (rowniez nie zdecydowali sie na kamping) I co smieszniejsze - tez postanowili nie zostawac w alftavatn...nie szlismy razem, ale od czasu do czasu sie spotykalismy)

day 2 of the laugavegur trek in Icelandic highlands

that day we planned to walk as far as alftavatn only, but ... we left hrafntinnusker hut quite early in the morning, the distance of the day was only 12km and we were well rested therefore reached alftavatn about 1pm - to early to stay overnight. so we continued further south :)

 

funny - the Czech team left the hut 15mins after us (yep, they also opted against camping and slept in a hut, what is even funnier - they didn't stay in alftavatn neither, just continued,as we did. we didn't walk together, but were meeting in various points)

 

 

 

 

planowana trasa dnia: przejsciem miedzy gorami z hrafntinnusker do jokultungur, potem ostro na dol I dolina do jeziora alftavatn.

 

planned route of the day: pass between mountains (from hrafntinnusker to jokultungur), then steeply down to the valley and straight to lake alftavatn.

 

 

 

ale z taka iloscia energiii enntuzjazmu udalo nam sie polaczyc planowany drugi dzien z prawie calym trzecim. tak wiec tego dnia przeszlysmy okolo 27km

z alftavatn sciezka prowadzila lagodnymi wzgorzami do kampingu hvanngil, a stamtad pustynia czarnego popiolu doszlysmy az do hattfell , gdzie rozbilysmy sie na czarnym, bezkresnym popiole.

 

but with such great amounts of energy and enthusiasm we managed to add another 15km (27km all together)

from alftavatn path took us over gentle slopes of ofaera and hvanngil campsite, then via lava field and black ash desert as far as hattfell.. where we spent the night pitched on a black ash desert, limitless..

oh, that's the reason of really bad smell in the hut in the morning!

 

 

 

ewidentnie pogoda sie poprawila :) nastroje swietne, zbieramy sie do dalszej wedrowki!

first serious climb of the day brought us to a very good view point. I could have spent there most of the day, just looking

as we pulled a pole from ground, as I said, there are not rocks, more like some kind of clay

as I already mentioned in post about svinefellsjokull glacier - clean snow and glacier ice are coloured blue

 

 

 

patrzymy przed siebie - niebawem pomaranczowe gory ustapia miejsca zupelnie innym krajobrazom

we're looking ahead - soon the orange mountains will be replaced by very different landscape..

 

 

 

tym razem obylo sie bez sciagania butow, ale z tego co pamietam, na drodze do alftavatn musialysmy jeszcze przekroczyc cos 'wiekszego' I nie obylo sie bez 'zamaczania'..

 

that time we managed to pass without taking off our boots, but as far as I remember, we had to cross another river before reaching alftavatn, and that time we got 'wet'

pokrywa sniezna uchronila nas od kolejnego moczenia nog :) a jednak trek wczesnym latem ma swoje plusy :)

snow covered river, this saved us from getting wet, we could cross over the snow. well, trekking in early summer has its advantages too!

after about an hour we finally reach alftavatn, but we don't stay there, we continue south
